Yanks-Mets Subway Series Gm 1

My Television Press Pass for WNBC-TV.
Of course, thanks to the best, Bruce Beck.

The Yanks Dugout today!
***Bruce is getting me the picture he took of me on the bench.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was obviously an amazing day for Mikey Martin. I got to experience the first of many Media days at the Ballpark. I met the players, announcers, reports and worked Media/TV for NBC Sports New York with Bruce Beck.

Recap:
Swish is the man, a nut
Kevin Burkhardt is even nicer than how he seems on TV
Jeter and Granderson are extremely respectful people and very nice
Yogi Berra is and always will be THE man!

Onion Sports FUNNY Blog Article

Player-Led Workouts

In a normal year, most NFL teams would be starting their minicamps right now. With the lockout in effect, some players have taken the initiative to organize workouts on their own, with varying degrees of success.

  • Albert Haynesworth: 15 reps of breakfast
  • Buffalo Bills: Ryan Fitzpatrick organized a specialized passing practice at his house, during which teammates could come over and teach him how to properly throw the ball
  • Arizona Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald invited several top players from different teams to work out at his Arizona compound, where he organized drills and begged them to sign with the Cardinals
  • San Fransisco 49ers: QB Alex Smith has been throwing to receivers Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn, though neither of them have caught any passes and both have repeatedly told him to get out of their homes
  • Tennessee Titans: TE Craig Stevens started working out at a nearby high school but was asked to leave about 20 minutes later
  • Chicago Bears: Defensive players practiced their team fundamentals by having linebacker Lance Briggs hit the tackling dummies while linebacker Brian Urlacher got all the credit
  • Kansas City Chiefs: Just holding regular offseason workouts as usual, because who pays any attention to the Chiefs?
  • Nobody: Working their asses off in negotiations so there can actually be some fucking football this year
I am not THIS funny. I got this @

WVU and NBA Great Jerry West (NBA Logo Sillouet) Lands Job with Warriors

CONGRATS WVU LEGEND

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriorshave hired Jerry West to join the franchise's front office in an advisory role and be a member of the executive board.

The Warriors announced Friday that West will work with the basketball operations staff and the business arm of the team. He will report directly to owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber.

The Hall of Famer was a 14-time All-Star with the LA Lakers and the inspiration for the NBA's logo. West also spent 18 seasons as the Lakers' general manager and seven in Memphis' front office.

He will be part of a new staff charged with leading the Warriors back to the playoffs after making the postseason only once since 1994. Golden State is also searching for a new coach after Keith Smart's contract was not renewed.

Mets On The Rise

Gee with the W!
Dillon Gee is now 3-0 with a 3.44 ERA (4.44 before today) after going 8.2 innings, the most innings in his career, with another great save by Frankie Rodriguez.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After starting off just 5-13, the New York Mets are now just one game under .500 at 21-22. The Mets have won16 of the last 25 and have gone 6-2 in the last 8

Izzy has the best holds to innings ratio : 10 holds / 14 innings (second most holds) while K-Rod has the 2nd most saves (14) in the majors after 9 straight

We are missing Wright, Davis, Johan, Parnell, Young and Pagan and we are still in striking distance

MLB Predictions ... over 75%!

With around 44 games into the MLB season and I've correctly picked around 6 of the 8 Division Winners (done on March 31st) ... The ones I have lost are the Redsoxs because they've had a slump and the rough losses in the White Soxs games. Hope the Red and White Soxs can step it up all the way up until the post season. If anyone can rebound its the Redsoxs as they inched their way up to over .500 after a garbage start. Not to mention the Whitesoxs are chasing the Indians so we'll see how long their wins will last.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MLB Shockers ***(Bold=Bad Shocks)
Indians, A's, Marlins (even though I called it), Twins and the O's

The Indians and A's are flying with W's as the Marlins sweep in under the Phillies in the NL East. The NL East is talented and we'll see how that pans out. The O's (19-21) are looking good and thats not as much shocking to me because I wanted to see that but, it's definitely a good sight!
Twins are GARBAGE so far...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mets have won their last 3 (split the last) series so they can make a run too, that would really be the icing on my prediction's cake.

Goin back to work at NBC, enjoy the Bulls and Canucks game tonight, I'll check in sometime tonight or tomorrow.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight's Predictions: Mets Heat O's Sharks

Mets are gonna smack Washington even though they are filled w/ injured players.

I also love the bulls but have to pick the Heat because I can't see them loosing 2 in a row.

I picked the O's over the Yanks because Britton is dirty, if he's in for a while, yanks are gonna be 1-7 ! Sorry Yankee fans :(

I picked the Sharks because I don't follow the West too well and I like the Sharks as a team than I do of the Canucks.

National League Predictions

NL East : New York Mets
Okay, okay, obviously this is only because I'm a Mets fan. I have no real pick for the NL East, praying for the Mets, but really really like the underdog Marlins. I don't like the Phillies and their injury problems, as well as the Braves and their life after Bobby Cox. Let's pray Mets, and hey, you never know!

NL Central : Cincinnati Reds
With Chapman, I think Rookie of the Year this year, Arroyo, Cordero, Leake, and Edinson Volques, they are STACKED at Pitching. You look at hitters like Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Jonny Gomes, Edgar Renteria, and Scott Rolens, and wonder how many wins can this team put up! Brandon Phillips' swag will shut teams up as they cruise right to the 2011 World Series.

NL West : Rockies
Including their amazing Spring Training thus far, when it comes September and October, this team always finishes strong. I can see the Giants winning because of their successes last year, but with acquisitions like Ty Wiggington, and hitters like Tulo, Ty, Willy Tavares, and RBI Machine Todd Helton this team will be great! Lets not forget Ubaldo Jiminez, Esmil Rodgers and Jason Hammel in that pitching staff. This Rockies team is a real, real good ball club. Let's see where this leads us...

AL Wildcard : NL East Team / Cardinals
I can see the Cardinals making a run in the Playoffs, but see the Reds as a much better team. WIth this being said, I cant put the Cards above the Reds but maybe above a Second placed NL East team. We'll see what happens but the Cards are good maaaan.

AL Champ : Cincinnati Reds

American League Predictions

AL East : Boston Red Soxs
Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and the rest of the Soxs are going for it all this year, and they're the real deal. Ellsbury coming off his best spring Spring Training in 3 years!

AL Central : Chicago WhiteSoxs
With the addition of Adam Dunn, I would like to see the White Soxs to succeed. With the very possible occurrence of a Dunn injury, I can easily see the Twins, if Mauer and Morneau stay healthy, snagging up the AL Central.

AL West : Texas Rangers
Defending AL Champions can definitely contend for this AL West Title. Yes, they lost Cliff Lee, but they have the best lineup in the West. I can see the Angels make a run, but fall short because the Rangers are the best overall team in the AL West.

AL Wildcard : Tampa Bay
With the additions of Manny and Damon, I can see this team succeeding. The AL East is hard to tell. But my predictions is that an AL East team will easily be the Wild Card. Blue Jays and Yankees are very thirds, if not the Wildcard or Division.

AL Champ : Boston Red Soxs

Tiki Barber To Come Out of Retirement

Can Tiki Barber Help ANY NFL team, if we do infact have a 2011-2012 season?

NO, the answer is simply no. Would I love to see Tiki attempt to play again, yes. Would I like to see him suceed? Yes. Will it happen? No. It's not his age, it's not his talent. It's the fact that he has not taken a hit since 2006, and with that being said, I don't know if anyone can come back into the NFL from that long at the age of 36 and try and play football. MAYBE a quarterback, but we are talking about a running back, someone who gets hit every play they recieve the ball. To say that someone can help an NFL at the Running Back position the age of 36, coming into a season after 4 years of retirement and playing in the NFL at a time where they saw the most fines for hits EVER. This is a no-brainer, Tiki Barber is NOT going to be a help to ANY NFL team. Maybe the Bills. KIDDING, they can screw anything up.

Melo, Knicks, WIN

Melo, Knicks, WIN

Sorry for the long wait for my next post. I've been behind on school work but I neeed to keep you guys updated especially now that the Knicks have FINALLY acquired THE Carmelo Anthony. Oh yeah, and Billups.

You are NUTS if you think this is a bad trade. We got TWO superstars, giving up middle round players... Lets see why... Anyways, I love the trade for a few reasons... With Carmelo Anthony the NY Knicks become an easy contender in the playoffs and a endlessly a better team. Another easy reason would be the endless possibilities. We can pick up Howard, Paul or Deron Williams much, MUCH, MUCH easier... We also eliminate the Nets from getting Melo and build for bigger and better things. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to miss Galo, Chandler, and Felton easily, but this team is going to be insane. Lets look forward, not backwards. We can't erase what happened with the trade so give it a few games and all the Melo haters will be on my side. Welcome to NY Carmelo Anthony. Oh yea, and Billups, lets not forget Billups...

First Noo Yawk Video of Tha Day, it's a gooody

Comes from the one, the only, REX RYAN... One of my favorite NY Sports Icon in a while... he's already topped any Jets coach i've seen in a loooooong time... ManGENIUS Ha what a joke

And the Home of The JETS

Get To Know Me

Well lets start off by stating the obvious... I'm a Noo Yawker.

My name is Mike Martin. I'm from Long Island, NY and I'm a sports writer. I'm currently a 19 year old sophmore at WVU studying Television Journalism with a minor in Sports Communications and Theatre. I'm a huge sports fan and live for it. Played High Schools sports, but it kinda stopped there.

Okay...Okay... enough with the boring shit...

I'm a Noo Yawk Jets, Mets, Rangers and Knicks fan. I'm deffinitly not a big fan of the Yankees or Islanders. Yankees = Respectable . Islanders = Jokes ... So if you're an Islanders fan, I'm sorry to hear that, they suck.

I'll be blogging about all NY teams, yes even the Islanders. For the most part i'll be serious, getting you guys the information you're going to want to know about your teams, or other teams in general. Aside from the seriousness, i'll be messing around with funny sports blogs as well. Sure, I may have some asshole remarks, but I like what I do and I am sure you guys will too.

Shoot a comment on the blog if you wanna hear me talk about something and I more than likely will do it.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS ... and no, M-E-T-S does NOT stand for My Entire Team Sucks ... we're just rebuilding...........i think?
